Another of the Outer Banks series. This was taken in the base of the Cape Hatteras lighthouse. It was actually the last shot I took before I walked out. I had already climbed to the top and taken several shots that aren't worth mentioning. There was a small alcove that I backed into in order to get the arch and the staircase.

The black-and-white effect was achieved through use of Photoshop's channel mixer, which gives more pleasing than a simple grey scale conversion. I used NeatImage to reduce the noise, and a sharpening layer to bring out detail.
