This photograph was taken on the Ocracoke-Hatteras ferry, during my convalescence from mono. The fore and aft areas of the ferry having large plates welded to the deck, and this is a close-up of two of the welds.

I used my point-and-shoot SD800 IS for this shot, because I didn't have my regular camera. It is difficult not being able to control all the technical aspects of a photo, but the camera did a nice shot. Most of the editing was done in Lightroom, with some blemishes removed with Photoshop.
