Boltscape

I had some free time at a job site last week and snapped this picture of some bolts sitting on a rusted-out, run-down trailer. The orange rust and the blue wall kind of give it a desert feel.

Technical: Powershot G9, 1/400 sec at f/5.0, ISO 80, 9.04mm

Blue Easter

One of the shots of our 2008 Easter Eggs. I like the cool, wintry look - a bit different from the usually vibrant Spring colors. Post-processing in Lightroom, some masking in Photoshop.

Envious Petals

Jen received a bouquet of tulips from my mother, and that's all I'm saying about that subject. I used the tripod my Aunt Mary bought me for Christmas, and it worked very well. Coloring and minimal cropping done in Lightroom and Photoshop.

Series of Tubes

I was at a job site down south at a building that was under heavy construction. Sitting off to the side was a large spindle of fiber optic runway tubing. I didn't have my SLR, but I try to always have my point-and-shoot handy, so I managed a few snaps. The P&S suffers from noisier pictures, so I cleaned it up a bit with Neat Image. Standard leveling & color balancing done in Photoshop.

Unsavory Spoons

The second picture of the year! Why I am excited about it?! I'll tell you! My camera has gathered dust for the last two months. Been too busy with work, and just plain haven't felt inspired lately. I visited the TFTTF forums to see what the 72-hour photo challenge was right now, and I find the unlikely topic of "spoons."

Eye Contact

While we rambled around Harpers Ferry, WV, we came across some miniature caves carved from the rocky hills. While I was scrunching myself up into a hole, JM poked her head around the corner and I was inspired to take this photo. After some “up up up, hold on, right right right, hold on, down a bit down a bit” I think it came together.

The image was cropped a bit, so I don't know what kind of print I'll get, but on the whole I feel really good about this piece. I really lucked out, and have to thank JM for bearing with me while I setup the camera.

Color enhancements in Photoshop.

Spring Blossoms

I should probably get a frequent-visitor pass for Longwood Gardens. The trees have their spring blossoms, and the light was fantastic Saturday. The sky was a clear blue, with but a few wispy clouds to break up the great expanse.

I always forget to look at the trees' name tags, so I have no idea what sort this one is. I'm still going through the other pictures I took, maybe one or two others will be worth posting.

Weather Drops

Took this after a good day of rain. The single leaf was all alone in the parking lot, with drops forming all over it. Ran back inside and grabbed the camera and a +4 close-up. I like the way it turned out (this is the best out of 22 attempts).

There's no "I" in tree

The subject of this picture was spotted by Jen, and I obliged by taking a few snaps of the tree in question. I used Lightroom to do the initial processing of the image - color corrections, cropping, etc. Photoshop was used to bring out the eye shape and make it ready for the web.

Blueweld

This photograph was taken on the Ocracoke-Hatteras ferry, during my convalescence from mono. The fore and aft areas of the ferry having large plates welded to the deck, and this is a close-up of two of the welds.

I used my point-and-shoot SD800 IS for this shot, because I didn't have my regular camera. It is difficult not being able to control all the technical aspects of a photo, but the camera did a nice shot. Most of the editing was done in Lightroom, with some blemishes removed with Photoshop.
